The warmth of Filipino hospitality, the richness of cultural heritage, and the enduring friendship among generations came together on August 21. 2026 at the Marriott Hotel. Vienna in a memorable evening as the Retired Filipino Nurses Association in Austria (RFNAA) gathered guests for a special celebration filled with music, dance, inspiration, and fellowship.
From the moment guests arrived between 5:00 and 6:30 PM, the atmosphere was one of joyful reunion. Friends, fellow community members, supporters, and distinguished guests were welcomed into an evening that celebrated not only the achievements of retired Filipino nurses in Austria but also the vibrant unity of the Filipino community. Following the arrival of guests, the food was blessed before everyone enjoyed a sumptuous dinner buffet, setting the tone for an evening of gratitude and togetherness.
A celebration led by dedicated community leaders
The formal program opened with an invocation, followed by the presentation of the dedicated officers of the Retired Filipino Nurses Association in Austria. The organization proudly introduced its leadership team, whose commitment continues to strengthen the community and preserve the values of service and solidarity:

Words of inspiration from the Philippine Embassy
One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of Consul Candy Cypres-Bauzon of the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, who served as the distinguished guest speaker.
Introduced by Carmen Pacaigue, RFNAA Treasurer, the Consul delivered an inspiring address that recognized the valuable role of Filipino professionals and the importance of maintaining unity, cultural identity, and active participation within overseas Filipino communities. Her presence added significance to the celebration and reminded everyone of the strong connection between the Philippines and its citizens living and thriving abroad.
The inspirational segment encouraged guests to continue serving as ambassadors of Filipino values through compassion, resilience, excellence, and community spirit.
A journey through the Philippines in music and dance
Culture took center stage as the evening unfolded into a colorful showcase of Filipino traditions representing the three major island groups—Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Luzon
Association of Pangasinenses in Austria (APA) presented a traditional Luzon folk dance performed by Bong, Bernadette, Jun, and Charit. Their graceful presentation reflected the elegance and cultural pride of the northern Philippines.
Visayas
The Kapunungan sa mga Bisaya sa Austria (KBA) brought the beloved Cariñosa to life through the performance of Richan, Joy, Romy, and Alice. The dance, known for its playful courtship movements, captivated the audience with charm and authenticity.
Mindanao
Representing Mindanao, the Association of Mindanaon and Friends Austria (AMFA) performed Kappa Malong Malong, showcasing the beauty and versatility of the traditional malong through the artistry of Aida, Norma, Alma, and Susan.
The cultural presentations beautifully demonstrated the diversity of Philippine traditions while emphasizing one united identity shared by Filipinos across regions and generations.
Contemporary rhythms and joyful performances
Bridging tradition and modern creativity, the celebration continued with energetic contemporary dance presentations.
The Philippine Nurses Association in Austria (PNA) delivered a lively dance number that brought excitement and applause from the audience, highlighting the enduring enthusiasm and talent of Filipino nurses beyond their professional lives.
Meanwhile, the hosts themselves—the Retired Filipino Nurses Association in Austria—proved that retirement is indeed a new chapter filled with passion and vitality. Their entertaining mixed dance presentation featured the songs “My Life,” “Hawak Mo ang Beat,” and “Mapapa Ooh La La.”
Performers Dorcy, Dyree, Edeline, Myrna, Lea, Estrella, Ofelia, Marisa, and Teofista energized the audience with a spirited performance that reflected friendship, confidence, and the joy of celebrating life together.
Fellowship beyond the program
As the formal presentations concluded, the evening transformed into a lively social gathering. Guests took to the dance floor for Dance, Dance, Dance, enjoying moments of laughter, conversation, and renewed friendships.
Another exciting highlight was the Tombola, where generous prizes brought anticipation and cheers throughout the venue. A special €100 Consolacion Prize, generously sponsored by the Climaco Family – Infinity Balikbayan Cargo, delighted participants, while RFNAA awarded the major cash prizes.
The raffle was not merely about winning prizes—it added another layer of excitement and generosity to an evening dedicated to strengthening community bonds.
